American TV host Tucker Carlson popular with Republicans has left Fox News.
One of the most popular journalists with Republican views and supporters of former US President Donald Trump, TV presenter Tucker Carlson has left the American Fox News channel, Fox News Media said in a statement.
"Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to break off the relationship. We thank him for his work in the network as a presenter, and previously as one of the authors," the company said in a statement.
It is noted that the last time Carlson went on the air with the TV program Tucker Carlson Tonight on April 21. From Monday, the hosts of the program will change until a permanent replacement of the journalist is named.
The statement does not specify the reason for Carlson's departure from the TV channel.
Carlson has worked for Fox News since 2009, and in 2016 began hosting the Tucker Carlson Tonight program. His program averaged 3.32 million viewers. In 2021, Time called him "the most powerful conservative in America."
Earlier in April, Fox News Media agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems, a company that sells voting software, more than $787 million and admitted that some elements of their coverage of the 2020 presidential election were incorrect. At the same time, the company's claims mostly seemed to be other programs, not Tucker Carlson Tonight.
During the trial, personal correspondence between Fox News journalists was published, in which they discussed that they doubted the position of their own network, which accused Dominion Voting Systems of alleged election fraud. Among other things, a message was submitted in which Carlson stated that he hated Trump. Publicly, the TV presenter has always supported the former president.
