The American state of Florida is suffering from an invasion of an invasive species of Burmese pythons, which are incredibly difficult to get rid of, Fox News reporter Greg Wehner reported.
"The growing population of Burmese pythons in South Florida and Everglades National Park, as well as many unknown individuals, led scientists to the conclusion that the eradication of invasive species in the southern part of the state is most likely impossible," Wehner said.
He also noted that the uncontrolled population of Burmese pythons in the United States is one of the most intractable problems in the world concerning invasive species.
According to him, the size of the largest python found in Florida was about five meters, and the weight was 97 kilograms.
The journalist also added that for the first time this reptile species was discovered in the southern state in 1979, but it received the status of invasive only by the early 2000s.
