Poland demanded that the United States hand over JASSM-XR missiles to protect it from Russia: This is reported by Interia.
It is noted that the head of the republic Mateusz Morawiecki visited the United States to convince Washington to provide Warsaw with cruise missiles of the JASSM-XR model. It is noted that these models can be launched, in particular, from F-16 or F-35 Lightning II fighters.
According to the publication, the Polish authorities are seeking to obtain these missiles against the background of the latest statement by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko about the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons on the Belarus territory.
On March 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Minsk and Moscow had agreed to the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of the Republic of Minsk, adding that the construction of a storage facility for it will be completed by June 1. The Head of State stressed that tactical nuclear weapons will be deployed there without violating obligations under the Treaty on Measures for Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START III).
