According to the rules, every parliamentarian must register all gifts, contributions and donations received in the "register of interests". The investigation began on April 13.
As The Telegraph newspaper clarified, citing a source in the prime minister's office, it is connected with the share of Sunak's wife Akshata Murti in the child care company Koru Kids.
According to media reports, the company will receive additional funding from the budget, thanks to the pilot project adopted to popularize the profession of nanny.
At the same time, during the discussion in parliament, the Prime minister concealed his wife's interest in this issue. In early April, Sunak himself appealed to the parliamentary relations committee with a statement that his wife's share in the Koru Kids company had been declared, The Sun newspaper correspondent Harry Cole reported with reference to Sunak's letter.
"The committee asked me questions. I would like to clarify for the parliamentary record that this interest was correctly declared in the Cabinet of Ministers. A new list of ministerial interests will be published in the near future by independent adviser Laurie Magnus," the prime minister said in a letter posted by a journalist on Twitter.
The letter is dated April 4.
Rishi Sunak assumed the post of Prime Minister at the end of October 2022. He became the third Prime Minister of Great Britain last year. Boris Johnson resigned in July. In September, he was replaced by Liz Truss, but her government faced a barrage of criticism over a new plan to support the economy and lasted only 44 days.
